Mission and Vision
Mission - Glorify God
The mission of children’s ministry, as is the mission for all ministry, I would argue is to Glorify God. Everything you do, no matter what, work, family, hobbies, or anything is to glorify God. From creation to eternity, it all points to God and his steadfast love that endures forever.
- Genesis 1:31
- Psalm 136
- Psalm 148
- Ephesians 1:10
- Colosians 3:17; 23
Vision - Let Every Child Hear the Name of Jesus in Castle Rock, In Colorado, and To the Ends of the Earth.
The vision or calling that one has in fulfilling the mission is different from group to group and person to person. The vision that God has called me to (and I hope to you as well) over the next year within this ministry is to:
Let Every Child Hear the Name of Jesus in Castle Rock, In Colorado, and To the Ends of the Earth.
I am using this as a lens to filter the decisions and direction for my family and the ministry that God has called me into. Let me explain how I have come across this vision.
Let: I am using the word “let” because it is found many times in scripture and I believe sets the attitude that we are not called to make, create, build, or otherwise do something, but instead we are called to “Let” God do His thing. This in part takes some of the pressure off of the ministry and puts it in the right place which is in God’s Hands. We are called to sow seeds, but it is God who grows the seeds and harvests the crop. We need only be obedient and let God be God.
- Matthew 19:13-15
- Psalm 67
- Mark 4:26-29
Every Child: The bible has many references as to why children should be the focus of a large focus of ministry. From a practical matter, when you reach the child, you are able to create a generation of missionaries who will take the gospel to the farthest parts of the world. You are able to shape minds that will create new laws and inventions that will assist in the order of the world. Children are also able to take the message into families, schools, and other guarded and protected places.
- Matthew 18
- Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Hear the Name of Jesus: I want to start with this part of the goal seems to stop short of where I would think God would want me to be. I would think he would want to see every child saved or to be a disciple, but the more I looked into this I found that we are called to teach and sow into children, and we are not measured on how many are reaped, but how much I sow. Also the Name of God is one of the most powerful things we can share. When people hear, know and understand the name of Jesus, they are able to be saved. We are being sent to preach the name of Jesus which whoever calls upon it shall be saved. We are called to teach, baptize, pray and ultimately live in and for the name of Jesus.
- Matthew 6:9
- Matthew 28:19-20
- Romans 10:13, 14-17
In Castle Rock, In Colorado, and to the Ends of the Earth: This one is pretty straight forward in that it is where God has called us since it is where we are currently sitting and follows the pattern of Acts 1:8. This starts with the city we are in, moves to the larger geographical area of influence, and moves to the ends of the Earth.
